COTTAGE GROVE/ MIDDLETON - Joanna V. Adler (Hildebrandt), age 68, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012, peacefully in her home.

She was born on Aug. 21, 1943, the daughter of Alberta "Albie" and Robert J. Hildebrandt. Joanna married Curtis H. Adler on Sept. 1, 1962, in Middleton. She worked at Manchester's Department Store as a model and a clothing buyer. For many years she worked as an independent sales representative for Sarah Coventry Jewelry. After moving to Middleton from Cross Plains she began working for PDQ Food Stores. Joanna continued her employment with PDQ for 26 years and had a final retirement date of March 2, 2012.

Joanna made the most of every moment in her life. She sacrificed with pleasure to help others in their time of need whether it was to give them a ride, borrow money, provide shelter or to just lend an ear. She enjoyed camping with her family, road trips to wherever the road would take her, playing games with her children and grandchildren including Parcheesi, Yahtzee, Monopoly and card games. Joanna always had a great time playing slots at the casino where she had unusual luck at times. At home she relaxed putting together puzzles, landscaping her yard in the summer and watching "Wheel of Fortune."

Joanna is survived by her four children, her mother, three sisters, five brothers, several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. (names of survivors removed)

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis H. Adler; her father, Robert J. Hildebrandt; her brother, James Hildebrandt; mother-in-law, Laverne (Floyd) Bauer; and father-in-law, Herbert "Herbie" Adler.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2012, with Monsignor Douglas Dushack presiding. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
