Clifford lived his entire life in San Diego County. He homesteaded 640 acres in San Pasqual's Rockwood Canyon and also lived in Lakeside, Borrego Springs, San Diego and Escondido. He was a heavy equipment operator for the city of San Diego and a member of the Kiwanis Club for 50 years.
