Leslie "Doc" Wayne Abbott died on June 9 at his home in Hines.
He was born on June 15, 1929, in Roswell, Idaho, to Gurnsey H. Abbott and Rita Fletcher Abbott. Abbott was raised and educated in Parma, Idaho and graduated from Parma High School. He attended the University of Idaho and University of Washington, where he got his master's degree in meteorology. He entered into the United States Air Force in 1951, serving until 1969. He was an Aircraft Pilot Commander during the Vietnam War. Abbott married Jane Search on Oct. 21, 1993, in Reno, Nev., and moved to Burns.
Abbott is survived by his wife, Jane Abbott of Hines; children, Christine Abbott, Debbie Teng, Christopher Abbott and Matt Abbott; and brothers, Ray Abbott and Orville Abbott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
A funeral service was held on June 15 at Bible Baptist Church in Hines. Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 16, at Roswell Cemetery in Parma, Idaho, at 1 p.m., Mountain Standard Time.
