Sarah Ann Prickett was the daughter of Israel Prickett of Virginia and Sarah Hargrove Prickett of Maryland. Sarah was born in Franklin County, Georgia (now part of Habersham County). She married James Milton Quillian, Sr. (1793-1869) on May 18, 1815 in Franklin County. Their marriage was performed by his brother Clemond Quillian, Justice of the Peace.

James Quillian was a Methodist minister and member of the North Georgia Methodist Conference (1845-1869). Both he and Sarah Prickett Qullian are buried in unmarked graves at Mossy Creek Methodist Church in White County, Georgia.

They had seven children. Three of those children, Osborn Phillips Quillian, Fletcher Arnold Quillian, and Asbury Hull Quillian, also became Methodist preachers, along with a number of other Quillian descendants.
