According to her 1908 Confederate widow's pension application, she married James Farrar in Richmond "three years before the War". They had at least six children: Mary Emma, Julia Rebecca, Ida Mercer, Frances "Fannie" Isabella, Alace (or Alice) Warren and Sarah Crawford. James had been wounded in the Civil War and died of "Pneumonia".

She next married Thomas Newton Windell in Richmond on 12 May 1886; they had at least one child, Robert. In 1908 she was living with a child in Norfolk.

She is buried in James' father's plot, near James, Thomas, and her daughters Julia and Alace.
