Hazel W. Decker, age 94, of Canton, O., and formerly of the East Sparta area since 1950, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1915, at Beallsville, O., to the late John and Melissa (Bolon) Book. She was a homemaker all her life and enjoyed gardening, canning and quilting. She was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ at Canton.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, Lloyd R. Decker, on Feb. 7, 2005; a sister and brother-in-law, Nellie and Ira Hendershot; sister-in-law, Bernice Book; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Clyde and Eva Decker. Surviving are her children, Marilyn E. (Donald) Hopkins of Canton, Phyllis E. (Lester) Gauding of Ravenna, O., and Beverly J. (H. Ed) Lones of Magnolia, O.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Carl Book of Beallsville, and Russell (Anna Lee) Book of Massillon, O.
Her funeral service is Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Lebold Funeral Home at 248 Park Ave. SW, Bolivar, O., 44612 where there will be calling hours on Monday from 4 to 7 and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to time of service. Officiating is Keith Kull and burial is in Fort Laurens Cemetery at Bolivar.
