Kathleen S. Abernathy
Kathleen S. Abernathy,59, of 940 Bridgit Lane SE, died Thursday in St. Luke's Hospital, after a lingering illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Corwin "Corky" Abernathy; a daughter, Pamela, and her husband, Allen "Buzz" Hand, of Cedar Rapids; her mother, Mary Wasson of Missoula, Mont.; and a brother, Robert Wasson of Seeley Lake, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her father and a son, Gregory.
Born the daughter of Willis and Mary Albright Wasson on Dec. 2, 1933, in Malden, Mass., she married Corwin "Corky" Abernathy on Sept. 17, 1954, in Falmouth, Maine. She was formerly employed by LeFebure Corp. as an engineering secretary. Kathleen was past worthy matron of Marion Chapter 183, OES; former member of Triangle No. 64, ABWA, and former president of Augusta Chapter Zonta.
Pastor Larry Sohn will officiate.
