DANVILLE — John William Allen, 78, of Danville passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at Chambers Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 30, 1933, in Kentucky to the late Edward Allen and Bessie Allen Chancellor.

He was a Korean Army veteran and he owned and operated Allen's Garage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Edward Allen; and brothers, Charles and Jim Allen.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Barbara Jean Alexander Allen; sons, Johnny Allen of Conway, Bobby and Mike Allen, both of Danville; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Gerald Purser of Danville; grandchildren, Michele, Krystal and Laura Allen; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Warren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Casa First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Alexander officiating. Burial will be at Needmore Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:00 p.m. prior to service at the church.

Pallbearers include David Allen, Oggie Allen, Jerry Wayne Allen, Phillip Alexander, Tony Alexander, Roger Henry, Gerald Purser and Jimmy Crow.
