Here, he worked as a farmer in the Rib Falls area until he was appointed under-sheriff of Marathon County in 1891. He served two years in that post and then was elected sheriff in 1893, serving as Sheriff through 1894. He was a member of the school board for many years. In 1899 he joined the H.E. McEachron Company in a management role and was assigned to their Marshfield, Wisconsin facility.
Mr. Salzmann was married to Lillian French and they had four children.
Adolph Salzmann died in Marshfield, WI on May 5, 1906. He is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Wausau, WI
On June 25, 2016, I received an email with the information below:
I believe Adolph Salzman was married twice, once to Sophie Kielsmier, in 1880, (See the Commemorative Biographical Record of the Upper Wisconsin Counties of Waupaca, Portage, Wood, Marathon, Lincoln, Oneida, Vilas, Langlade and Shawano, published in Chicago in 1895, page 562) and then to Lena Schaefer, my husband's 2nd great aunt. According to the US Census in 1900, Adolph and Lena, then living in Marshfield, Wood, Wisconsin, had been married for 9 years, so they were probably married in 1891. The four children you mention were Sophie's. There was another child, Capitola, born in 1892. I'm currently trying to confirm that she was Lena's daughter.
