Excerpt from her obituary from Loup City Northwestern - 8 January 1904:
"Word was received here Wednesday morning by Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Kornrumpf that their daughter, Mrs. Jas. Gaston of Cheyenne, WY had suddenly died and that her remains would reach here on the 7:30 train.
Mrs. Gaston, nee MISS EMMA KORNRUMPF, left here last spring for Omaha and from there to Fort Laramie, where she was married on November 24, 1903 to Mr. Jas. Gaston, a carpenter by trade. A short time ago they moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Deceased was 24 years old last November and was married on her birthday anniversary.
Fritz Kornrumpf and son-in-law James Gaston asked for and was granted a few minutes audience at Odd Fellows Lodge last Saturday night. They came to offer their thanks to the lodge for kindness shown them during the funeral of the wife of Mr. Gaston."
Emma had been married less than two months and she was returned to Nebraska for burial in Loup City.
