SUBLIMITY - Doris Lavaun Schmidt passed away on April 11, 2010 at the age of 88. She was born July 14, 1921 in Gervais, Oregon to Allan and Eva (Wynn) Jones. Lavaun was raised in Longview, Washington.
She married Gregory Schmidt on December 7, 1941.
Lavaun worked for the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles, retiring in 1976 after 15 years of service. She was a member of First Christian Church in Salem and had been past Noble Grand in Rebekah's Lodge. She was involved in Marion County Extension groups and enjoyed crocheting and playing pinochle.
Lavaun was an excellent cook and enjoyed traveling with their motor home and even attended her Longview High School 60th class reunion.
Lavaun was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory in 1994.
She is survived by daughters, Nona (Gary) Petersen of Sublimity, Ore. and Leana (Garret Beaumont) Schmidt of San Diego, Calif.; son Allan (Brenda) Schmidt of Aumsville, Ore.; brother, Dale Jones of Sacramento, Calif.; sisters, Elaine Cunningham of Fremont, Calif. and Eula Pritchard of Ephrata, Wash.; and brother, Marvin Jones of Milwaukie, Ore.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 12 noon - 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 22 and Friday, April 23 at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service. A Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 24 at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service following a private graveside service. Arrangements by Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
