An eminent lawyer in Paris, Nordmann joined the resistance group of the Musee de l'Homme. When the movement was betrayed in 1940, he was arrested and sentenced to death.

At his trial, he made this statement to the Germans, "You ask me if I have committed acts of possession and distribution of anti-German leaflets? I answer, yes! You ask me if I regret? I answer, no! You ask me if I did not know the gravity of my actions? My answer is still no! I am French, I am a patriot. I considered that France had lost a battle, not a war. That it was the duty of her children, to continue the struggle by any means remaining at their disposal. This is what I did - deliberately. " [translated from French]

In his last letter to his sisters, Antoinette and Claudie, he said, "My darlings - My last letter is to kiss you with all my heart. I am oging to die calmly, tranquil for myself. If you remember the last days of Mama, you will know that death is not terrible. As for you, you must live, and in the most peaceful and happiest ways. I implore you to do so. Don't hesitate to ask for helpfrom all my friends . . . Have no pity for me. I did my duty. I would have liked to do it better for your sakes. I love you."

He and the six other men from the group were shot at Fort Mont Velerien.
