The funeral of Robert M. Gunn, formerly manager of the Sulzburger & Sons packing plant at Haverhill (now known as Wilson & Co.) was held at the Knights of Pythias' hall yesterday afternoon with many friends, members of the K. of P., Odd Fellows, Loyal Order of Moose and members of Whittier temple, Pythian sisters, present. Mr. Gunn was affiliated with all the organizations named. The service of the Waldemar Co., Uniformed Rank, of which Mr. Gunn was a member, was held in charge of the officers. These include Capt. Leon H. Newbegin, First Lieutenant Herbert Austin and Second Lieutenant William H. Corcoran. Rev. J. Franklin Babb was the officiating clergyman at the funeral. H. Wilfred Zink sang "Rock of Ages" and "Lead, Kindly Light." With 50 men in line and led by the Haverhill Brass band, John Dwyer, leader, the Waldemar commandery acted as an escort to the body, which was placed in the receiving tomb at Linwood cemetery. Reveille was sounded at the cemetery. The Haverhill manager, R. Forrest Moore, and George Horton of the Boston office represented Wilson & Co. There were numerous floral offerings, including set places, one of which was a beautiful piece sent by Wilson & Co. -- Haverhill Evening Gazette, Thursday, February 15, 1917.
