Albert Edgar (Bo) Abels, 78, of Parkersburg died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at St. Clair Hospital near Pittsburgh, Pa.

He was born in Parkersburg on Jan. 2, 1925, the son of Edgar Raymond Abels and Lesta Fankhauser Abels. He attended area schools and served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He retired from the Quaker Oats Co. in 1987, where his career spanned 40 years.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Pugh Abels; two sons, Gregory and Jeffrey and his wife, Mary; a daughter, Julia Abels Scott and her husband, Mark; four grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Scott, Zachary Christopher Scott, Melissa Anne Scott and Samuel Edward Abels; and one niece, Jan Cutlip Lincicome.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Doris Abels Collins.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Parkersburg, with Rev. Dr. Michael Linger officiating. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to service at the church. For those who wish to make memorial contributions, the family has suggested the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
