Eleanor and I were classmates in San Joaquin General Hospital School of Nursing from 1958 to 1961.

She had a pretty smile, a good personality, & a great sense of humor. She was very dedicated to nursing & endeavored for excellence.

Eleanor Jane Vetter was born into this life June 28, 1939, at San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp, CA and returned to eternal life on Sunday, June 10, 2007 in Stockton, CA.

Eleanor was a lifelong resident of the Stockton Area. Eleanor attended local schools and was a 1957 graduate of Stockton College. She then furthered her studies at Stockton College with an A.A. in nursing and graduated in 1961 from the San Joaquin General Hospital's nursing program. She furthered her education in 1983 with a BS in Nursing and Public Health from CSU Stanislaus.

Eleanor committed her lifetime to helping others through her nursing and diabetes education. She retired with over 20 years of service at St. Joseph's Medical Center and had served as its first diabetes educator. She was a past president, board member, and a Volunteer of the Year for the local American Diabetes association. She also spent numerous years in volunteer work with organizations such as Su Salud. She served as past president of El Circulo Espanol de Stockton.

Eleanor is survived by her beloved mother, Dolores V. Jimenez; her children, Albert L. Vetter (Cathy), Julie Vetter, Donny Vetter; her former spouse, Albert E. Vetter and two grandchildren, Ryan Bradley and Anthony Miller.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela I. Vetter and her father, Lucio Jimenez. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Dolores Thompson, Beatrice Jimenez, Robert Jimenez, Lucille Olivas (Tony) and Michael Jimenez. She will also be missed greatly by her Aunt Rose Garcia (Benny) and her many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends.

Memorial services will be Monday, June 18, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline drive, Stockton, California. Private inurnment at San Joaquin Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made through the American Diabetes Association, 2720 Gateway Oaks Dr. #110 Sacramento, CA 95833, or the San Joaquin General Hospital Nursing Alumni."
