Mr. Parks was born to Joseph and Marilla Parks. After coming to South Dakota in 1917 he farmed the family homestead until the death of his mother in 1929. He then moved to Murdo where he and his sister Zelma Pierce have lived since.
Mr. Parks was sheriff of Jone County for two elective terms, 1937-1940. He became employed by the State Highway Department and retired from this position in 1962.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Roy and Bert and one sister Zelma Peirce.
