Hugh Fair
Hugh Earl "Red" Fair, 83, of Wood River, died at 4:05 a.m. today, March 28, 1988, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton, following a lengthy illness.
Fair was a supervisor with Shell Oil in Wood River for 37 years and retired in 1963.
Born in Fayette County, he was the son of the late Charles and Martha (Ginger) Fair.
He married the former Eva Hatfield June 12, 1948, in Pana, and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Jack Braughton of Wood River; two daughters, Mildred Hart of Alton and Lois Hofstetter of Tampa, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim Fair of Alton; and a sister, Rev. Eva Hunt of Pana.
Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Dennis Armstrong.
Burial will be in the Upper Alton Cemetery.
