ANKENY - Nancy Lou (Auestad) Cerfogli, 74, passed away Wednesday (Aug. 24, 2005) from pneumonia brought on by acute myeloid leukemia. Services will be 10 a.m. today at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens with burial at Highland Memory Gardens.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Nancy was born April 8, 1931, in Kensett to Andrew and Della (Newman) Auestad. She was the youngest of eight children.
In her lifetime, Nancy worked for Look Magazine, Farm Bureau, Sterling Florists and Carmen Florists in Ankeny. She married Leo Marcellus Cerfogli on Oct. 29, 1955, in Des Moines.
Throughout her life she enjoyed listening to KJJY and entering their contests, doing bus tours throughout the U.S., taking pictures and collecting state magnets, playing slots and betting the horses at Prairie Meadows and elsewhere, attending the Ankeny girls and boys basketball games, especially when they won state. She especially enjoyed her family and friends.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Leo; daughters, Gina Marie (Lawrence) Daniels and Judy Ann (Bobby) Singh; two granddaughters, Jassi and Simran Singh; a brother, Warren Auestad; and two sisters, Irene Stock and Audrey Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Nancy had been planning and looking forward to her and Leo's 50th wedding anniversary.
