Andrew was the son of John B. Gordon and Mary Ann Kennedy. He married Rebecca K. Dickerson on 15 Apr 1858 in Lynnville, Tennessee. They had two children: Bertha Hall Gordon and Mamie Mildred Gordon. He served the C.S.A. from Dec. 1862 to 1865 as Capt. in Company E, Holmon's 11th Tennessee Cavalry. He was shot in the hand at Dallas, Georgia on June 2, 1864. While trying to cross the Tennessee River from Alabama back into Tennessee, he was captured. He was imprisoned at Johnson Island, Ohio and remained there until general surrender. It is said that the only way he survived the prison at Johnson's Island was by eating the rats that were their constant visitors.

From FAG User (Nipper):

1880 Census also shows these children of Andrew and Rebecca
all born in Tennessee

Henry B 1870,
Annie J 1873,
Nannie K 1875
Robert J 1879,and
Bertha H 1877.

Due to the lack of the 1890 census, these names have been ferreted out by others, but with no verification other than Mamie Mildred which was not mentioned in 1880 and in the 1900 census no children are mentioned:

Ella Hill
Edward Allen
Andrew Ruthven
John Boyd
Mamie Mildred

The Gordons are a part of my family, but do not wish a memorial transfer, thank you M Y Nipper
