Jack David Ansel, 78, of Parkersburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Nov. 5, 2011.

He was born in Fairmont, W.Va., on Jan. 9, 1933, a son of the late Charles and Lillian Ansel.

He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He retired from the CSX Railroad after 43 years as Head Brakeman. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainman Lodge 452.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara Ansel; five children, Jack Ansel Jr. (Sarita) and Donna Vakoc (Randy), both of Belpre, Sandy Greene (John) of Vienna and twins, Alice Ansel (Chuck) of Parkersburg and Kenneth Ansel (Lisa) of Norwalk, Ohio; sister, Eva May Carpenter of Fairmont; brother, Albert Fay Ansel of Texas; six grandchildren, Christy Butler, Shawn Ansel, Brittany Ansel, Jonathon Flinn, Jasmine Deeter and Kenny Ansel Jr.; and two great-grandchildren, Clayton Butler and Mason Butler.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Ansel; and granddaughter, Jessica Dawn Williams.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens with military rights by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday.
