Stephanie Jacqualine Brown, 63 of Cambridge, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, friend and teacher passed away peacefully to begin her eternal life with her Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 19, 22012 at Dorchester general Hospital in Cambridge, MD. She was born February 4, 1947 in Cambridge, MD, daughter of the late Leon S. Brown, Sr.(Teefie Brown) and Ella Mae Savage Brown. She was a graduate of Maces Lane High School Class of 1967, Chesapeake College Class of 2004 and Sojourner Douglass College Class of 2007. Stephanie was employed by the State of Maryland, Department of Assessment and Taxation for twenty-three years before she retired due to health reasons. After her retirement she volunteered each summer as a teacher at the Cambridge Empowerment Center Summer Youth Program when her health permitted. As a child, she was baptized at Greater Mount Oliver Full Gospel Church and continued to be an active member until her health began to fail in July 2011. She is survived by an adopted daughter Ametria "Messie" Askins-Johnson; son-in-law Antonio Johnson; two grandchildren, Azairen Johnson and AzEyra Johnson; two devoted and loyal sisters, Brenda Brown Jews and E. Paulette Brown; two nephews, DeBrandon Jews, Sr.(Keisha), Mark Jews(Myisha); two great nephews, DeBrandon Jews, Jr. and Messiah Jews; One great niece Jayden Jews; adopted sisters, Agnes Jenkins(Richard), Iantha Askins and Shirley Henry Hollis; adopted daughter Charlene Frieson; adopted son Kenneth Brice, Jr.; adopted grand children Cierra Jones, Xavier Frieson, Shaniya Frieson and Jayland Moaney; adopted great grandchild Aniya Lake; one uncle, Johnny Major; seven aunts, Rosalee Cark and Nettie Keene(both of Cambridge, MD), Lucille Warrington(John) of Hurlock, MD, Estelle Laws of Easton, MD), Geraldine Flamer(New Jersey), Eunice Hubbard of Preston, MD, Saura Lake(Beverly) of Hurlock , MD; One great uncle, Ray Mapp of Exmore, VA. She is also survived by a close and dedicated friend, Cortez Johnson of Hurlock, MD; High school friends Delores king and Barbara Jews; Cousin Phyllis Major; Faithful High Street neighbors for over 47 years, Mr. Asbury Jones, Sr. and all of his children and grandchildren; a host of cousins, great cousins, great-great cousins as well as her Patamoke Village neighbors. Preceding her in death were her parents; brother Leon(Juice) Brown, Jr.; grandmother Lola Mapp Major; grandfather McKinley Savage; three uncles, Linwood Major, Layfield Major and Rev. Ray Cephas; two aunts Eva Mapp McCloud and Marie Cornish.

Funeral Service will be held on Sat. February 25,2012 at 1pm at Wagh Chapel U.M. Church 425 High St. Cambridge, Maryland with a viewing two hours prior. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery
