Jasper Bruce Alexander, 79, of Williamsport, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center ER while surrounded by his loving family.

Bruce was born April 20, 1932, in Asheville N.C., the son of Jasper and Lois Davis Alexander.

He had been employed as a seismologist for the National Geological Survey, retired after 18 years as a plumber and pipefitter at Pullman Power Products and was a member of Union local 810 Plumbers and Steamfitters of Williamsport.

An avid bowler, he enjoyed bowling at Faxon Lanes, he also enjoyed fishing and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, the former Leatrice Joy Culvey; three stepchildren, Charles (Glenda) Farrington of Montoursville, Shirley (Carlyle) Probst of Jersey Shore, Janet McCollin of Lock Haven; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Lois (James) Woody, Martha (Jimmy deceased) Hungerford, both of Asheville, N.C., Brenda (Mark) Arey of Sanford, N.C.; six nieces and three nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; a stepdaughter, Edwina Farrington; a grandson, Gregory Workman; and a brother, Charles Jasper Alexander.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport, with the Rev. Dr. J. Morris Smith officiating, followed by burial at St. Agnes Cemetery in Lock Haven.

The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday.
