Haskell Grayson Ivey, 69, husband of Mary Harris Ivey, of 1607 Jonesville Highway, died at his home Friday, May 16, 2003, at 8:45 a.m. Mr. Ivey was born in Jonesville on April 22, 1934, a son of the late Autry Ivey Sr. and Rose Blackwell Ivey. He was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church where he served was a former deacon and Sunday School superintendent. Mr. Ivey was a graduate of Jonesville High School and served in the U. S. Navy and Navy Reserves from 1952 until 1960, and was retired from Community Cash Stores after 40 years of service.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Steve (Debbie) Trammel of Union, Ms. Cindy Ivey of the home and Ms. Kim McNeace of Union; his mother-in-law, Alice F. Harris of Union; three grandchildren, Brooke Trammel, Dylan and Marissa McNeace, all of Union; a sister, Mrs. Fred (Vegia) Gregory of Jonesville and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ivey was predeceased by two brothers, Autry Ivey Jr. of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Garris Ivey of Union. Funeral services were held at the Fairforest Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Robert Patterson, the Rev. Dr. Ralph Boling Jr. and the Rev. Randy Smith. Burial was in the church cemetery with military rites.

Active pallbearers were Brad Blackwell, Monroe Smith, Dean Tollison, Dan Sherbert, Wylie Scruggs, Michael Brown, Wayne Palmer and Clay Palmer. The following were asked to assemble at Fairforest Baptist Church to form the honorary escort:

Harry Helms, Frank Lancaster, Paul Sanders, C.B. Blackwell, Bruce Blackwell, Rev. Ken Holcombe, Dean Morris, Charles Blackwell, Julian Ivey, Harold Hawkins, Dr. Gerald Fielder, Nick Harris, Don Puckett, Larry Vassey, Charles Tabor, Carol Harmon, William Garner, Harold Howell, Mark Foster, Stanley Hodge, Robert Puckett, the Rev. Scott Cobb, members of the Men's No. 1, 2, and 3 Sunday School classes of Fairforest Baptist Church; after school grandparents of Monarch School and Hospice Care of S.C. employees.
