SALEM
Mechelle Rosemary Taylor, 44, formerly of Dallas, passed away on March 12, 2012, at the Salem Hospital, while holding her mother's hand and with her family around her. She was born on October 26, 1967 in Dallas, Oregon to Wesley and Carla Burbank.
She was a very shy but loving and helpful daughter and mother. She enjoyed the barns and animals more than the kitchen. While in elementary school, she and her best friend, Wanita Bole had plans on living in the barn's hay loft & having the animals live below then. She loved "Rusty", her horse, and gave rides to all the children she babysat. She raised a bummer lamb, "April", and enjoyed the twins and triplets that April gave birth to. She won Grand Champion in Showmanship for two years with her 4H Rabbit. She most recently had a 20 pound cat, Cody, and a fish tank.
Mechelle attended Pedee Elementary, Dallas Middle and High School, and graduated from Philomath High School, in 1985. She was also very musically gifted and played the piano, French horn and trumpet. She won many awards while playing in various orchestras, concerts, and stage bands. She also enjoyed reading Christian Literature and other books. Mechelle enjoyed fishing with her dad, brothers, and grandpa Eakin. At age 11, she caught her first salmon while on a Christmas trip in Hebo, Oregon.
Mechelle married John Taylor III on November 28, 1987 at the Salt Creek Baptist Church. They had three children and later divorced. She enjoyed taking her young children to the library and to feed the ducks at the park. Although she was a native of Pedee, OR, she lived for a while in Sebastopol, CA, Kerning, CO, Frazier, CO, Portland, OR, and most recently, Salem, OR. Her friends, John and Becky, and their girls, also welcomed her into their home for a while, as well.
Mechelle is survived by her three children, Justina Cartwright, John Taylor IV, and Isaac Taylor. She is survived by her parents, Wesley and Carla Burbank, and her brothers, Dan, Dave, Doug, and Dennis, all of the Pedee, Monmouth, and Dallas areas. She is also survived by her extended family.
The memorial service will be on Monday, March 19th at 2:00 P.M. at the Pedee Memorial Church. Private interment will be in the Womer Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Polk County Relay For Life, in care of Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center who is handling the arrangements.
