Jane moved to San Francisco to attend nursing school and met her husband, the late Perle Grant, at Yosemite National Park. Perle was a Marine and he married Jane in 1944.
Jane and Perle moved to New Hampshire, then moved to Maine before eventually settling down in Bristol, Conn., where they raised three kids. After many good years in Bristol, Jane and Perle moved to Winthrop, Maine, where she created many of her happiest memories living in a house located right on the lake.
In 1987, Jane moved to Rancho Bernardo, Calif., where she happily lived near her eldest son and his family for the remainder of her life.
Jane loved camping, baseball, playing cards and, above all, her family.
Jane was a devoted wife to Perle Grant; the loving mother of Dennis, Bonnie and John; a wonderful grandmother to Zena Kolenda, Emily Kalzecyc and Michael Grant; as well as a new great-grandmother to Declan Kolenda, who was born the day before her passing.
Burial will be at a later date in Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, Maine. (Kennebec Journal 3/16/2012)
