George was born in October 19, 1827 in Durham, New York. He was the son of Riley Adams, and Catherine Felter. He had 5 siblings, Nancy Adams, John Adams, Seth Adams, William L. Adams, and Ambrose Wagner Adams. He was married 3 times. Around 1849, he married Rebecca C. Moke. They had a daughter named Catherine E. Adams, in 1850. George served for the Union in the American Civil War from January 27, 1864 to August 10, 1865. They got divorced around 1871 in Fulton, New York. Around 1876, he remarried to Elizabeth German in Williamsport, Maryland. They lived there in 1880. At some point, they moved from Maryland and settled in Hedgesville, West Virginia. Her wife died in July 1896 in Hedgesville, West Virginia. He soon remarried to Bertha May Franks, a widow of James Gano, on September 19, 1897 in Hedgesville, West Virginia. George and Bertha had at least 2 children. Their names were Harry Adams and John Adams. He died 2 months after John's birth. He was buried in Jones Springs Calvary Bible Church Cemetery in Hedgesville, West Virginia. His wife soon remarried to Isaac David Edwards in 1908.
