Born in Deer Isle, Maine; 14 Jan 1860; son of Allen Henderson and Sophia Jane Stinson Greenlaw * Allan was the third child of 10 children.

Parent Information:
Father: Allen H. Henderson, b. 1816, Guysborough, Manchester, Nova Scotia, son of Alexander Henderson (b. Scotland) and Lucina Luddington (b. CT) Allan Henderson, Sr. residing Rockport, Maine, died 1888 on the steps of the Pulpit Harbor Post Office, in North Haven, Maine. Occupation: fisherman and captained the mail boat from Rockland, Maine to Pulpit Harbor, North Haven, Maine

Mother: Sophia Jane Stinson Greenlaw ; b. 1836, Swan's Island, Maine d. 1911, dau. of Benjamin S. Greenlaw and Lydia D Stinson of Deer Isle. After death of her husband Allen Henderson in 1888, she married 2nd: William H Ott of Rockport, Maine.

1920: (3rd marriage) 20 Jan 1920, in Stonington, Maine**; to Lena Frances (Thurston) Banks, (dau of Jesse Thurston and Mary Olive Stinson). His third marriage and her second. She has five children from her previous marriage to Leverett H Banks who died in 1914. (see marr. announcement image, left)

""Living on boat; age 70; widowed." The boat was on land, and he is not widowed, but actually still married to Lena Henderson, living in Stonington.

1930: Another census record for Allen exists for this same year, showing that Allan is residing at Sailor's Snug Harbor. He would reside there from time to time, and leave, over several decades. This was most likely not due to illness, but for need of a place to live, as his marriage to Lena suffered much separation.**

Personal letters to Salem, Mass. family indicate his health was failing. He was still married to Lena Henderson, Stonington, at time of death.
