Orville Vance Allender, 96, of 322 Center Ave., Weston, died at 3 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2005 in the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn. following an extended illness. He was born August 3, 1908 in Belington, WV, a son of the late C.J. Allender and Roxazada Maxwell Allender. He was twice married, first to Josephine Hager Allender, who preceded him in death, then in October of 1985 he married the former Elfreda Butcher, who survives. Surviving are two stepsons, Steve and wife Pam Butcher of Kingsport, Tenn., and Dr. Michael and wife Donna Butcher of Saratoga, CA, and five grandchildren, Brian Butcher of Saratoga, CA, Bradley and wife AnneLisa Butcher of Stockton, CA, and Collin Butcher of Saratoga, CA, Bryn Taylor Lorentz and husband Josh of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Rick Taylor and wife Michelle of Marietta, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Darian and Joshua Taylor, both of Marietta, Ohio; son-in-law, Dick Taylor of Marietta; one sister, Mary Allender Rowan of Lutherville, MD, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Chiquetha Butcher Taylor, and two brothers, Leo and Howard Allender. Mr. Allender was
retired from the Equitable Gas Co. with several years of service and was a member of the Weston Lodge No. 10, A.F. & A.M., Bieglo Chapter No. 4 RAM, Commandry No. 8, and past president Lewis County Shrine Club, Nemesis Shrine Temple of Parkersburg. Also, he was a member of Weston Moose Lodge No. 1376 and Buckhannon Elks, chairman of the Lewis County Republican Executive Committee in 1956, member of West Side United Methodist Church of Belington and attended St. Matthew United Methodist Church. Mr. Allender was a 20-year volunteer at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. Friends may call at the Boyle Funeral Home, 322 Main Ave., Weston Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday from the Boyle Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Rupert Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Weston Masonic Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by Weston Lodge No. 10, A.F. & A.M
