She was born February 16, 1924, at Bucklin, KS, to James T. and Barbara Louise (Eskew) Lane.
A lifetime Bucklin resident, she was a farmer, homemaker and a retired Bucklin postmaster.
On April 5, 1946, she married Francis H. Speer. He died November 21, 1964.
Survivors include a sister, Maxine Cecil of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, and 22 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis; five brothers, Virgil, Sylvan, Russell, Lester and Elvin Lane; and three sisters, Mary Hampy, Alta Harkey and Lucile Fletcher.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at the Bucklin Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Suzie Woods presiding. Calling times are from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 19, at the Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin, KS. Burial will be in the Bucklin, KS, Cemetery.
