Audrey Katherine Greathouse "Katie" Shiley, 91, of Natural Bridge, died Thursday, March 24, 2005 in the Roanoke United Methodist Home where she had been a resident for the last six years.

Mrs. Shiley was born on December 4, 1913 in Durbin, West Virginia, a daughter of teh late William Greathouse and Maggie Hevener Greathouse.

She and her husband, the late Rev. Hugh L. Shiley, served many churches over a span of 40 years in the West Virginia and Virginia Methodist Conferences, which included Mt. Zion, Elliotts Hill and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Churches of the Rockbridge Charge.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities including the Methodist Women. She founded the Maury River Garden Club in 1962 when The Katherine Shiley Award was named in her honor. She was a past volunteer at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. In 1987, she received a Blue ribbon "Best in Show" for her appliqued quilt at the Rockbridge Regional Fair.

Mrs. Shiley is survived by two sons: John W. Shiley and wife Corlinda of Kerns, WV and Daniel L. Shiley and wife Brenda of Natural Bridge; one granddaughter: Rhonda S. Burch of Chesterfield; one grandson, Matthew W. Shiley of Waynesboro; and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2005 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charles Carroll and Rev. Dr. William K. Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Arbovale Cemetery in Arbovale, WV at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 with Rev. David Rittenhouse officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2005 at the Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service, Buena Vista.
