Miss Layton, whose home was on Route 3, two miles south of Winnsboro, died in a Shreveport hospital following an illness of five and a half weeks.
Born Feb. 9, 1887 in Summerville, Georgia, to James W. and Sarah Jane Storey Layton, Miss Layton moved to Texas with her family in 1904. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church. Miss Layton is survived by two brothers, Oscar Layton and L. L. Layton, both of Winnsboro and one nephew, Arville Layton, of Shreveport.
