Born in Jonesboro, she was a member of Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She was active in her church as a Sunday school teacher and music leader and was the church clerk for many years. She was a member of the Jonesboro District WMA, Herman Extension Homemakers Club and Woodmen of the World. She retired as a claims representative for the Social Security Administration. Mrs. Norris was interested in genealogy and kept detailed records of family history.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, James Elmer Norris; her parents, Daniel and Cordie Jones; brothers, Porter Jones, Oscar Jones and Arthur Jones; sisters, Alma Carney, Ree Turner and Pauline Turner. She has an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and their families whom she loved dearly.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law; one daughter and son-in-law; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Ray Broadaway officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
