I HAVE FOUND PROOF FROM THE COURT RECORDS IN STONINGTON, CT THAT NEITHER EDWARD NOR JOHN HART WERE FROM THERE. THE CLERK CLARIFIED THAT THESE TWO MEN DO NOT SHOW UP IN STONEINGTON, CT RECORDS AT ALL. ALSO, SINCE EDWARD AND HIS WIFE WERE IN HOPEWELL AND JOHN WAS BAPTISED IN HOPEWELL IT SEEMS MOST LIKELY THAT HE WAS BORN IN HOPEWELL.
The following information was contributed by Debra Polly:
Edward was a farmer and served in the militia. He was a justice of the peace and a public assessor. He died before 20 July 1752, when his estate was inventoried. Apparently, he had disposed of much of his property before his death. His movable estate included a drum, a sword, two Bibles, and a dictionary.
Note: His and his wife's memorials are tentatively placed here based on the fact that they were Presbyterians and lived in Hopewell Township. No gravestone for either is known to survive.
