Mrs Jane Landers

Jane Thompson was born in Ohio, on March 14, 1853, and when yet a child, moved with her parents to Clarinda, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood and where on Dec. 24, 1873, she was united in marriage to James W Landers. After several years residence in Clarinda, Mr and Mrs Landers moved to Loup City, Nebr., where Mr Landers engaged in business, removing to Arcadia, Nebr., in 1891. Mr Landers passed away in June, 1913.
Three children were born to this union, Mrs Walter Sorensen, Mrs James Cooper and the youngest child, a son, who died in infancy.
Mrs Landers was active in the social and religious interests of the community until the past few years when she retired on account of her advanced age. She also was an energetic member of Rebekah and Eastern Star orders.
Mrs Landers departed this life on Thursday, Dec 19 1925, at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 5 days, at the home of her daughter, Mrs Walter Sorensen in Arcadia.
She leaves to mourn her departure, two daughters, Mrs Walter Sorensen and Mrs James Cooper, both of Arcadia; brothers, George of Arcadia, John and Albert of Clarinda, Ia.; three sisters, Mrs Ora Fisher of Denver, Colo., Mrs John Truesdale of Clarinda, Ia., and Mrs Hulda Pickett of Rich Hill, Mo.; six grandchildren, and other relatives, besides a host of intimate friends in both Arcadia and Loup City.
Funeral services were held in the Sorensen home Sunday afternoon by Rev Hendrickson, assisted by Rev Alcorn. Max Wall rendered two solos. The body was laid to rest in the Loup City cemetery beside her husband and little son that had preceded her. The funeral services were concluded at the grave by the Eastern Star order.
The departed leaves many friends who share the sorrow of the bereaved relatives in the passing of the loved one.
