~ MOUNT VERNON NEWS ~ Monday - 29 December, 2008 - Danville Man Killed In Crash - Mount Gilead - A Danville area man was killed and his wife severly injured in a one-car crash Sunday night. Harold H. Dye Jr., 78, Orange Hill Road, died when his car crashed at the intersection of Danville-Amity and Monroe Mills Roads at 7:33 p.m. The OSHP said Dye, the driver, was northbound on Monroe Mills Road and failed to stop at the intersection. His car crossed Danville-Amity Road, hitting an embankment. The car ran up the bank and flipped over, hitting a small tree before coming to rest on its left side. The Fredericktown Fire Department rescue squad cut the top off the car to help with the rescue. Alma F. Dye, 74, was flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus by MedFlight helecopter. ~ MOUNT VERNON NEWS ~ Saturday - 3 January, 2009 - DEATHS - Danville - Harold "Holton" Dye, 78, of Orange Hill Road, Danville, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, as the result of an automobile accident at Danville-Amity and Monroe Mills roads. He was born April 8, 1930, in Mineral Wells, W.Va., to Harold Holton Dye Sr. and Genevieve (Fox) Dye. He married Alma (Frye) Dye on Sept. 16, 1950, who survives. He was a 1949 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He retired from Continental Can Co. He and Alma delivered newspapers for the Mount Vernon News for over 30 years. He loved to hunt and fish, as his health permitted, and loved nature and farming. He was a longtime resident of Knox County and a member of the former Kinderhook Bow Hunters Club.
