Funeral services were held Wednesday, [July 14, 1954] at 2 p.m. at the Wolf Funeral home for Dan Stroud, 79, who died about 4 p.m. Sunday after he was found by his wife a few hours earlier in a workshop at the rear of the family's home. A longtime Corydon resident, he had for some years operated a gun repair and saw sharpening shop at his home. Cause of his death was attributed to gunshot wounds and a .22 calibur rifle was lying near him when his wife discovered him. Mr. Stroud had been reportedly feeling despondent for some time over ill health and failing eyesight.
Surviving are his widow, a son, Earl and a granddaughter, Mrs. Kenneth Winn and family all of LeRoy, Kan., two stepchildren, Lee Cobel and Mrs. William Allen, both of Corydon. Rev. Osa Richardson conducted the funeral services and burial was in the Corydon Cemetery.
