Eugene Robert Stockdale, 90, went to be with his Savior at 9:07 A.M. on Thanksgiving Day, 2011. "A Life Well Lived" Gene was born in Aplington, IA to Carl and Mildred Stockdale on April 26, 1921. He was born 15 minutes after his twin brother Robert. Gene received his medical degree from the University of Illinois in 1954. Gene married Violet Labagnara in 1945 and they had four children, David, Diane, Darlene and Debra. In 1956 the Stockdales left the U.S. to serve the Lord in Cameroon, West Africa. They returned to the U.S. in 1966 , where Gene practiced medicine in California. Violet went to be with her Lord in 1979. In 1980 Gene met Mary Jo McMahon who had also served the Lord as a missionary.They were married in 1981. Gene is survived by his wife Mary Jo, his four children and their spouses, and five surviving step-children and their spouses. He is survived by his brother Ronald Stockdale and wife Carol, and one sister Marilyn Lindgren. Gene's twin brother Robert preceded him in death. Gene is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, one niece and six nephews. Gene was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving his country during World War II.
