Alfredo Serrapinana Puig, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2012. He was born in Havana, Cuba, on June 25, 1921. He came to the United States in February 1962.

He was preceded in death by his faithful wife of 62 years, Erlinda Puig.

He is survived by his two sons, Alfredo (Al), and Robert Puig; five grandchildren, Scott Puig and Melinda Puig, Ashley Puig-Herz and her husband, Erik Herz, and John Puig and his wife, Danielle Puig, and Wendy MacDermott; and Tricia Puig, mother of Wendy, Ashley and John; six great-grandsons, Jacob Puig, Christian, Gavin, and Ethan Puig, Julian Herz, and Elijah Puig.

Alfredo and his wife Erlinda were members of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, where he served as an usher. He retired from Chesapeake Corporation, where he worked in the accounting department. Alfredo had an indestructible sense of humor that everyone loved him for, and an appetite for good food 'til the end! He loved the Lord, his family, and his adopted country.

Te echaremos mucho de menos.

The Puig family would like to thank the many friends, neighbors, and coworkers who have been wonderful to both Erlinda and Alfredo throughout the years. Additionally, we would like to thank the caregivers that provided the comfort and loving care during his last few weeks: CareAdvantage, the 7th and 8th floors nursing staff of Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and Good Samaritan Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrew's Catholic Church, 631 N. Jefferson St., Roanoke, VA 24016 or The Salvation Army, 724 Dale Ave SE, Roanoke, VA.
