The son of Guy Emery Niemyer and Ruth Isabelle Gibson Niemyer.

Freddie married Velma Alice Russ Smith Mar. 21, 1946. They were the parents of three children: Charles Guy, Frederick Louis, Jr. and Tammey Lee. In addition, he welcomed Velma's two daughters from her prior marriage: Claris Jean and Donna Lynn, and raised them as his own.

After Freddie and Velma's divorce, he married Dorothy Querner.

A veteran of WWII, Freddie served in the Middle East.
