Eileen Rose Kuhman, age 86 of Yorkville, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2004 at the Dogwood Healthcare Center, in Sandwich, IL. She was born April 4, 1918 in Hutchison, KS, the daughter of Ernest Edward and Rose M. (Engel) Briggs. Eileen was united in marriage on April 21, 1937 in Onarga, IL to Mr. Fredrick Roland Kuhman and they spent many happy years together, until his passing in 1980. She was a member for over 40 years at the Yorkville Methodist Church in Yorkville, IL, and then a member of the Yorkville Congregational Church, Yorkville, IL. Eileen was employed for 11 years, at the Post Office in Yorkville. She then did book work for the Yorkville Elevator for several years. Mrs. Kuhman worked in the Nutrition Program at the Yorkville Congregational Church in Yorkville, and then with the Nutrition Program with the Salvation Army, and "The Golden Diners Program." She is survived by her five children, Norman (Eleanor Bird) Kuhman, of Yorkville, IL, Forest (Carole Wilson) Kuhman of Kent, WA, Eugene (Laura Holstein) Kuhman of Black Hawk, CO, Rose Marie (Don) Burton of Sheridan, IL, and Mary Lou (Steve) Kapernekas of Plano, IL; her nine grandchildren; her ten great-grandchildren; her brother, Eugene (Mary) Briggs of Madison, FL; her sister, Kathryn (Dwayne) Clark of Lovington, IL; as well as several nieces and nephews, who will miss her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Rose Briggs; her husband, Fred Kuhman; two grandsons; her brother; and her sisters. Interment of Mrs. Kuhman in Pavilion Cemetery, Yorkville, IL, will be private. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April, 2004 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Pkwy., Yorkville, IL with Rev. Arthur Zillgitt, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Seasons Hospice, Willowbrook, IL, the Open Door in Sandwich, IL, or to the Dogwood Healthcare Center in Sandwich, IL.
