Charles Hadden Miller, 77, Washington, passed away Friday, March 16, 2012, in his home.
Mr. Miller was born July 26, 1934, in Vienna, Mo., the son of Horace Miller and wife May.
He grew up and lived in Vienna, Mo., where he graduated from high school in 1953. In February of 1956, he met Rose Mary Eades, and on Feb. 2, 1957, they were married. The couple lived in north St. Louis County where they raised their four children.
Mr. Miller was a strong Christian man and throughout his life served as an active member and deacon at Jennings Christian Church, Ferguson Christian Church and First Christian Church in Washington.
In 1993 Mr. Miller and his wife moved to Washington and soon after retired as a carpenter for Morgan Wightman after 37 years. In addition to carpentry, he served in the Army Reserves for seven years, worked for the Missouri Highway Department in bridge construction and painting for six years, and drove trucks for West Lake Quarry for three years.
After retiring, Mr. Miller continued to stay busy doing the things he loved. He spent many of his days visiting with family, traveling, gardening, doing different carpentry projects around the house and for family and friends, and was an active member of the Golden Agers group at First Christian Church, Washington.
Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his father, Horace Miller; his mother, May King; his stepfather, Harrison King; two brothers, Maurice and Bob Miller; and two sisters, Helen Miller and Wilma Reeder.
He was loved and will be missed by his wife, Rose Miller, Washington; three sons, Steven Miller and wife Angie, Washington, and Dennis and Mike Miller, both of Holliday; one daughter, Janet Hammond and husband Brian, Montgomery City; seven grandchildren, Justin Miller and wife Ericka, Jesse Miller, Brandon Hammond, Jenna Hammond, Amanda Constable, Luke Mueller and Christina Miller; two brothers, Delbert Miller and wife Beverly, Kansas City, and Donnie King and wife Barb, Rolla; two sisters, Dolores Swarthout, St. Louis, and Ruth Allen and husband Dave, Vichy; many extended family; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; cousins; and dear friends.
Mr. Miller was a great example of what a man of God should be. His strength, faith, hard work, kindness and love have been an inspiration to any who knew him. Mr. Miller will be loved and deeply missed by all.
