Douglas James "DJ" Garland passed away on March 18, 2012.

He was born May 4, 1974, at Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.

Doug lived in Corvallis and moved to Anaconda as a young man where he attended junior high and Anaconda High School. He graduated from AHS in 1992. Doug met Kari Wiant at a young age and in 1998, they had a daughter, Makayla Lynn. Makayla was the sparkle in Doug's eyes. There was not anything he wouldn't do for her.

Doug had a very strong work ethic, often working two jobs or doing double shifts. Many people enjoyed his cooking at the Copper Bowl, First Quarter and Donivan's. He finally landed his last job with the Anaconda Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center, where he was a culinary arts instructor.

Doug was a kind and gentle soul, who loved everyone. His infectious smile and laugh would instantly light up a room.

Doug was a die-hard Denver Broncos fan. No matter how bad a season they had, he stuck by them throughout. He recently got to see Tim Tebow at the Civic Center.

There were many things Doug enjoyed but his all-time favorite was Rockin' the Rivers. He looked forward to this every year. He wouldn't miss that for anything. It was great times with family and friends that made the whole trip worthwhile.

He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Jake and Lucille Powell, Lillian Johnson, and Dave B. Liedle, and grandparents, Robert and Jean Garland and June Bjornemo.

Doug is survived by wife, Kari Garland; daughter, Makayla Lynn; parents, mother, Lia Liedle and Geno Opp, and father, Larry Garland; sister, Shawna Garland; nephew, Cody Garland; in-laws, Jim and Vicky Bjornemo, and Roy Wiant; aunt and uncle, Dave and Michelle Liedle; grandparents, Doug and Marge Liedle; brothers and sisters in-law, Jon and Jazmine Wiant; Jim Jr. and Aimee Bjornemo; and numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Doug will sadly be missed by many.

In lieu of flowers, please give contributions to the Makayla Garland Memorial Fund at First Montana Bank, 123 Main St., Anaconda, 59711.

Celebration of Life service was at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 23, at the Living Waters Church. Wear your Bronco colors!

Doug's arrangements are under the care of Longfellow Finnegan Riddle Funeral Home.
