OBITUARY :
HOMER D. "SONNY" NEWCOMB, 79, of Youngsville, NC, formerly of Martinsburg, died on Monday, March 19, 2012 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC.

Born May 22, 1932 in Berkeley Co., he was the son of the late James Barney Newcomb and Nellie S. Hutzler Newcomb.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, U. S. Air Force, having served in the Korean War. He retired from the WV Air National Guard, where he had served in Desert Storm, also had retired from the VA Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Lilly Marie (Triplett) Newcomb; three sons, Charles D. Newcomb of Martinsburg, Allen L. Newcomb of Shanks, WV and William T. Newcomb of Martinsburg; one daughter, Deborah Ann Sapp of Martinsburg; two step-sons, Clement "Mack" McDaniel and wife, Amy, of Youngsville, NC, and one step-son, George Humphries of Inwood; one step daughter, Linda Jenkins of Martinsburg; a number of grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Lou Welch of Martinsburg, and Shirley Ann Ramsburg, of Falling Waters.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth E. Newcomb; one step-daughter, Arizona Riggs; one great-great-grandchild, Jacob; three brothers, James H., Gary W., and Kenneth E. Newcomb; and one sister, Patricia Ann Edwards.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Brown Funeral Home's South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with Pastor Robert Caplinger officiating. Military graveside services will be held at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.

Family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, March 23rd at the Chapel in Inwood.
