Virgil Frank, age 88 of Marshall, formerly of Wood Lake, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 in his home in Boulder Estates in Marshall. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, May 24, 2007 in St. Luke's Lutheran Church rural Wood Lake with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and continue Thursday one hour prior to services in St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso.

Virgil Julius Frank was born on July 8, 1918 in Posen Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota to Julius and Lydia (Timm) Frank. He was brought to the Lord Jesus through Holy Baptism on August 4, 1918 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by Rev. J. Brauer. On March 20, 1932 he was confirmed by Rev. W. A. Poehler in the same church. He attended St. Luke's Parochial School. On June 21, 1941 he was united in marriage to Hazel Farber in Zion Lutheran Church in Hopkins, Minnesota by Rev. W. P. Clausen. They lived on the home farm that his grandfather Frank homesteaded and farmed all his life. He was a lifelong member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church where he served on the church council as Chairman, Elder and Trustee for many years and sang in the church choir for over 40 years. Virgil also served on the Wood Lake Creamery Board and on several Centennial History Committees. Virgil was very active with the Pioneer Power in Hanley Falls and the Minnesota Machinery Museum. He enjoyed gardening, volunteer driving and traveling.

Virgil J. Frank died on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 in his home in Boulder Estates in Marshall at the age of 88 years, 10 months and 14 days.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hazel , a brother Lowell Frank of New Hope, brother-in-law Walter Farber and wife Arlaine, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Roger Frank and two sisters-in-law Jeanette Frank and Peggy Frank.
