Obituary for Reynaldo Nino Burts

Memorial services for Reynaldo Nino Burts, 70,
who died Jan. 25, 1994 of hearts and lung failure
in Norwalk, Calif., will be held at Our Lady of
Guadalupe Catholic Church Wednesday at 9 a.m.

He was born Aug. 1, 1923 in Menard, Texas.

His ashes will be scattered over his family
plot at 4:30 p.m. at Westlawn Cemetery.

Military rites will be conducted by the San
Felipe Del Rio Veterans Honor Guard.

He is survived by his sons; Stephen,
Reynaldo, Gavin; daughters; Carole Angle,
Diana Walker, Laura Diccer; sisters;
Tennessee Ragland Moya; Rebecca
Ragland Lozano, Clemencia Burts
Thompson, all of California; brother;
Sam Ragland of El Paso; numerous
nieces and nephews.

Mr. Burts enlisted for military service
June 28, 1940; he was attached to
Company F, 505th Parachute Infantry,
82nd Airborne. He formed a part of
the Normany invasion, Italy Sicily and
North Africa for a period of 22 months;
he received distinguished Unit Badge,
American Defense Service Medal,
European-African Middle Eastern Theater
Campaign Ribbon with three stars;
wounded in action Sept. 15, 1943 in
Italy.

He was honorably discharged on
June 7, 1945.

His name will be inscribed in the
Wall of Fame erected at the Memorial
for Peace in Caen, Normandy's
premier museum on this war, in
commemoration of those who
served in the Normandy invasion.

An oral announcement of those so
inscribed was made at the 50th
anniversary of D. Day by an elected
representative of the Norman people.
