HOPKINSVILLE, KY -- Services for Jewell Wilson Hill, 93, Deepwood Drive, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. David Gardner officiating.
Burial will be in Green Hill Memorial Gardens.
A native of Christian County, he was born June 13, 1915, the son of the late James Warfield and Sarah Elizabeth Crowe Hill.
His wife, Grace Almeda Haddock Hill, died in May. A son, Ron Hill, also preceded him in death in 1987.
He was an Army veteran.
He Was a graduate of Newton Commercial College of Hopkinsville.
Early in life he was engaged in tobacco sales for several years, and he had owned and operated two gasoline service stations, Hill and Hill Service Station, Ninth and Walnut, and Hill Service Station, 21st and Walnut.
For many years, he was a grain and tobacco farmer in the county, and during those years he was a co-organizer of Hopkinsville Elevator, serving as secretary during his 10-year tenure as a member of the board.
He was one of the co-signers of the articles of incorporators of the Soybean Association of Kentucky. He was registered agent and chairman of the incorporators of Pennyrile Citizens Bank and Trust Co. when it was chartered in 1976, and served as chairman until his retitrement.
As a member of the Pennyroyal Arts Council, he served as chairman of the Alhambra committee during the theater's restoration. He also served on the Pennyroyal Mental Health Board and the library board.
He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Chwhere he served as deacon for many years. He served two terms on the Kentucky Baptist Foundation Board.
In addition, he aided in the organization of Little League baseball in Hopkinsville, and was a member of the Kiwanis Club and helped organize the first Key Club at Bethel College.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandy Bridges Bowling Green, Ky, Martha "Cookie" Maddox of Granada Hills, Calif., and Linda Hill of Burkesville; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
