Lorraine Abitz, 93, of Appleton, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 22. Lorraine was born in Menasha on March 13, 1918 to the late Alfred and Rose (Zoelk) Korth. On May 27, 1939 she was united in marriage to Wilbert H. Abitz. The couple enjoyed 66 years together until his death in May of 2005. She helped her husband farm and start up Abitz Water Service. Lorraine worked as an LPN at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute for many years retiring in 1979. She was a member at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Appleton where she was active with the Ladies Aide. She also belonged to the Crossroad Homemakers and the FVL Ladies Guild. Lorraine loved her Savior and her family. She also enjoyed fishing, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and attending Bible Class.
Lorraine is survived by 2 sons: Wilbert "Bill" (Donna) Abitz, Appleton and Daniel (Patricia) Abitz, Appleton; daughter Gretchen (Keith) Brei, Neenah; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; brother in law Gerald (Althea) Abitz; and 2 sisters in law: Ila Abitz and Bernice Brill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother George Korth, and infant brother Gerald.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 27, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 323 N. Morrison St., Appleton, with Rev. Kenneth Frey officiating. Friends may visit directly at the church on Monday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Entombment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Lutheran Church.
