Fred Hathaway Bixby was the son of
John William Bixby, b. May 25, 1848, and d. May 06, 1887 &
Susan Patterson Hathaway b. Mar. 22, 1845 and
d. Feb. 03, 1906
On Aug. 31, 1898 at Berkeley, Alameda Co., California, Fred Hathaway Bixby married Florence Elizabeth "Polly" Green, daughter of Adam Treadwell Green and Harriet Hancock "Hattie" Jones.
In 1881, John and Susan bought what is now Rancho Los Alamitos in Long Beach and lived in the ranch house there.
When John and Susan died, Fred and Florence and their children moved into the ranch house to live. In 1968, the Bixby heirs deeded the 7.5 surviving acres of Rancho Los Alamitos to the City of Long Beach.

Fred is buried beside his wife and with all of their children except Deborah Bixby Green.
