The son of Austin and Caroline (Bridgewater) Fortune. Moved from Illinois to Johnson County, MO in 1870. Married about 1874, Johnson Co., MO to Lucretia Edwards. She died in childbirth in 1883. Jack moved to Gold Hill, OR about 1885; and to St. Johns about 1904. Children: Lee Livingston, Charles Jasper, Ollie Maud, Della Jane, Alfred Thomas B. and Eva, who died an infant.
