Excerpt from: CITED FOR BRAVERY
For bravery and courageous conduct oner fire the following of the Three Hundred and Sixty-fourth Infantry have been cited: Private Clifford E. Lamb (and 34 others).
As much as the men would like to be home, they regard themselves as fortunate in view of the heavy fatalities from influenza in the States. Hardly a day passes that they do not receive word of some one being taken whom they had left in fine strength and health. Over here we are living in a cold, damp country, and almost constantly exposed. And yet out of 30,000 men there are only forty cases of influenza, and all of these are mild. This comparative immunity is due to wholesome food, regular hours and general, all-around good conditions. Purely as a natter of safety, it pays a man to go to war.

In the 1920 U.S. census, 28 yr. old (head of household), Clifford Lamb, a farmer, b. in CA. was living in San Jacinto, Riverside, CA. with his

Mountain Lion is killed by Stag Hound
SAN JACINTO - A merry scrap took place recently between a stag hound owned by Clifford Lamb and a mountain lion. It occurred at the entrance to Lamb’s canyon, between San Jacinto and Beaumont, when Clifford, riding along on his horse, noticed the cat. The hound noticed the animal at the same time and with a bound landed on the lion’s neck. Letting go, the dog grabbed the throat and for fifteen minutes kept at it until the lion gave up the ghost. Mr. Lamb gave no assistance, except by hitting it once with a stone. The beast is tawny in color and about six months old. The bounty is $30, while Lamb has already been offered $35 for the hide.

By 1925, 'Molly' had died, and in the 1930 U.S. census, 40 yr. old, (a single man and head of household) Clifford E. Lamb, a farmer on a stock farm, b. in CA., was living on a farm in Beaumont, Riverside, California with his
66 yr. old widowed father, Edgar C. Lamb, a farmer on a stock farm, b. in CA.,
Edgar's father was b. in IN. and his mother in OH.
Clifford's mother was b. in NE.
Edgar was 24 at the time of his first marriage.

Clifford Edgar Lamb marr. Elsie May Robbins.

Clifford and Elsie Lamb's children were:
1. Clifford E. Lamb Jr., b. Jul. 1, 1933 in Riverside County, CA. and d. Jul. 29, 2009 (last residence: Fowler, Fresno, CA.). 23 yr. old Clifford marr. 18 yr. old Patricia Judson in 1956 in Los Angeles County, CA.
2. Clarence William Lamb, b. Oct. 28, 1935 in Riverside County, CA. and d. Nov. 5, 2000 in San Bernardino County, CA. (last residence: Desert Hot Springs, Riverside, CA.)
3. Nancy Ruth Lamb, b. Nov. 19, 1947 in Riverside County, CA. Nancy marr. _ Marks.

In the 1940 U.S. census, 49 yr. old Clifford D. E. Lamb, a rancher on his own ranch, b. in CA., was living in Lamb's Canyon, Beaumont, Riverside, CA. with his
28 yr. old wife, Elsie Lamb, b. in CA.
6 yr. old son, Clifford E. Lamb Jr., b. in CA.
4 yr. old son, Clarence Lamb, b. in CA.
In 1935, Elsie and Clifford were living in the same house in Beaumont, Riverside, CA.
The highest grade Elsie had completed was 8th and Clifford Sr. had finished 5th grade.

According to his WWII Draft Registration card, 51 yr. old Clifford Edgar Lamb, b. Feb. 16, 1891 in Beaumont, Riverside, CA., was living with his wife, Elsie May Lamb on Record Ave. in San Jacinto, CA.
Clifford was described as 5'5" tall, weighing 140 lbs., with brown eyes, brown hair, a ruddy complexion, and a mole on the right side of the back of his neck.

From the memoirs of James E. "Jim" Lamb, and shared with his permission:
"Bill and Elsie Lamb were the last of the Lambs to live in lamb canyon. I can remember visiting them in the canyon, when the road was still a dirt road. In the mid 1940's, the Metropolitan Water District built an aqueduct from Lake Havasu, on the Colorado River, to Lake Mathews reservoir in Riverside County. When they bored the tunnel through the mountain range surrounding lamb Canyon, the ground water was released into the tunnel. The result was all of the springs and creeks in Lamb, Laborda, Singleton and other surrounding canyons all dried up.
About 1948, Bill tried to have a well dug, but they only hit bedrock. MWD eventually settled payment with Bill, and the other land owners.
Bill and Elsie then moved to Record Street in San Jacinto. Ed Lamb's home in the canyon, was located where the present-day road to the County Landfill breaks off from Highway 79; the highway actually runs over the location of Ed's old homesite. Elijah Lamb's home was located in the next smaller canyon south of Ed's homesite, and east of the highway. There is a dirt road/trail going up and over the east end of this smaller canyon, which is one of the two original roads out of the canyon prior to the opening of the road through the south end of the canyon."
